This AllerAir 6000 Vocarb UV Air Purifier features a cleanable pre-filter to collect larger particles, a 24-pound impregnated activated carbon bed that is specially designed to adsorb light weight noxious airborne chemicals, and HEPA filter to trap 99.97% of solid particles as small as 0.3 microns. It has two anti-microbial filters, a 400 CFM (cubic feet per minute) 3 speed fan. It is constructed of metal to avoid plastic vapors and it is in cylindrical shape to maximize air flow. This unit is designed to treat volatile organic compounds, odors, and other airborne pollutants. The 6000 Vocarb UV is one of the greatest air purifiers designed for removing continuous Volatile Organic Compounds such as ammonia and formaldehyde from very large areas that can be up to 1800 square feet. This system is designed for super spacious homes that contain products that are manufactured with formaldehyde. To be able to absorb all of these chemicals such as formaldehyde, ammonia, mycotoxins from mold, sulfur dioxide, Methylene chloride, and the chemicals that are contained in tobacco smoke. The blend of 18 pound activated carbon helps in absorbing these chemicals. This Air Purifier is available in sandstone, black, and white colors.
Air Flow and Your AllerAir Air Purifier We've noticed over the years that clients are very particular when it comes to using their AllerAir unit. Some like to run it 24/7, others only at night, some like to run it on high for a few hours then leave it on low for the rest of the day. So is there a science to choosing your air flow rate? We took this question to our technical department and here's what we learned:
Particles: Technically speaking, dust, pollen, hair and other airborne particles actually respond well to a higher setting. That's because the air is drawn-in at a faster rate which make the particles "smack" into the fibrous web of the HEPA filter with greater force. This increases the chance that they'll get stuck in the HEPA. Using the high setting for a few hours may be an excellent "quick fix" strategy if you've just finished brushing your pet or are cleaning out a dusty space, but our technical expert was quick to point out that over the long term it's just as effective to keep your unit on and running on low. This will provide a continuous flow of air that will help keep the air fresh.
Chemicals and Odors: For chemical and odor concerns there is a definite consensus ??? low is the way to go. That's due to the specific nature of the activated carbon used in AllerAir air purifiers. Activated carbon contains millions of tiny pores and fissures that trap chemicals, gases and odors. The longer these pollutants are forced to "hang around" in the carbon bed, the better chance they have of being adsorbed. When you select the low speed, the air passes at a slower rate through the carbon filter, therefore giving the pollutants "dwell" time allowing them to be adsorbed more efficiently. This process is also helped along by AllerAir's deeper carbon beds.
Particles, Chemicals and Odors: For a general improvement in air quality it's best to run the unit continuously on low. This ensures that you always have a constant flow of clean air. If you're concerned about energy costs, you'll be happy to know that most of our residential units draw the same energy as a 40 watt light bulb! That means even with 24-hour use it only costs pennies a day to operate!
