Because of its VOC capabilities, the 6000 Vocarb is perfect for laboratories, hospitals, workshops, and even convenience stores. Anti-microbial, HEPA, and military-strength MAC-B mass activated carbon filter are included. Using specially blended impregnated activated carbon over 1,800 square feet of coverage, the 6000 Vocarb acts to eliminate large and microscopic particles, VOCs, gases, odors, and anti-microbial. Features CFM (cubic feet per minute) rate of 400, 2 air changes per hour, a cleanable pre-filter, and an anti-microbial filter for disease carrying micro-bacteria. Available in sandstone, black, or white.

Air Flow and Your AllerAir Air Purifier
We've noticed over the years that clients are very particular when it comes to using their AllerAir unit. Some like to run it 24/7, others only at night, some like to run it on high for a few hours then leave it on low for the rest of the day. So is there a science to choosing your air flow rate? We took this question to our technical department and here's what we learned:

Particles:
Technically speaking, dust, pollen, hair and other airborne particles actually respond well to a higher setting. That's because the air is drawn-in at a faster rate which make the particles "smack" into the fibrous web of the HEPA filter with greater force. This increases the chance that they'll get stuck in the HEPA. Using the high setting for a few hours may be an excellent "quick fix" strategy if you've just finished brushing your pet or are cleaning out a dusty space, but our technical expert was quick to point out that over the long term it's just as effective to keep your unit on and running on low. This will provide a continuous flow of air that will help keep the air fresh.

Chemicals and Odors:
For chemical and odor concerns there is a definite consensus ??? low is the way to go. That's due to the specific nature of the activated carbon used in AllerAir air purifiers. Activated carbon contains millions of tiny pores and fissures that trap chemicals, gases and odors. The longer these pollutants are forced to "hang around" in the carbon bed, the better chance they have of being adsorbed. When you select the low speed, the air passes at a slower rate through the carbon filter, therefore giving the pollutants "dwell" time allowing them to be adsorbed more efficiently. This process is also helped along by AllerAir's deeper carbon beds.

Particles, Chemicals and Odors:
For a general improvement in air quality it's best to run the unit continuously on low. This ensures that you always have a constant flow of clean air. If you're concerned about energy costs, you'll be happy to know that most of our residential units draw the same energy as a 40 watt light bulb! That means even with 24-hour use it only costs pennies a day to operate!
